Let's make reusables mainstream again....

2.5 billion coffee cups are used and thrown away each year in the UK

Keeping reusable coffee cups on the menu

Despite the challenges Covid-19 brings, with higher levels of waste and single-use packaging, it is more important than ever that we make the most sustainable choices we can to protect our environment.

#CONTACTLESSCOFFEE

The #ContactlessCoffee campaign has been launched by City to Sea in partnership with Better Food to advise cafes and restaurants on how to safely use reusable coffee cups.

With the Tourism and Hospitality sector starting to open its doors, it is important that we don’t lose sight of the sustainability shifts made in our city region. Many organisations have already made a change – removing and reducing the use of single-use plastics or introducing reusable options.

There are still lots of ways we can ensure we don’t increase plastic production and consumption. With current Government guidance stating that: “It is up to the individual business to decide whether they allow the use of reusable cups or containers during this period”, City To Sea has developed its guidance to highlight the latest in best practice when it comes to reusables.

All the advice and guidance including a short video to support businesses in making the right decision can be found on the City to Sea website:

SEE HOW YOU COULD HELP

On this site you’ll find lots of information, advice and guidance to help you reduce the amount of single-use plastics you use. We want to help you make the right choices – whether that’s choosing to remove some products (always the best option), choosing a re-usable alternative (next best option) or switching to easily recyclable items.

The first step is to sign our pledge and commit to take action to reduce avoidable single-use plastics across Greater Manchester. By making a commitment today you can help to make Greater Manchester one of the greenest UK city regions. We are always adding new content to our site so keep checking back for further information.
